LA DOLFINA

After a very long Sunday, countless command strips and an extremely patient husband...  I can finally reveal the finished room I posted about here ! (My Inspiration)   I have been collecting these various treasures piece by piece over the past few years...     so it was a lot of fun to have so many things to work with in freshening up my college son's bedroom / new guest room. We have a fairly small home, just under 1800 sq. ft.,  so it made sense to have this room do double duty while giving it a more mature feel. It's interesting to think back over each find and how they all came together to create this "new space." I felt like a stylist working with so many great props! I guess subconsciously I had been creating this look in my head without really realizing it.   It's a pretty small room as room sizes go...   and even though I packed quite a bit into it I think it works. To hang and arrange all the stuff I've been collecting for my son's new and improved bedroom/guest room! I'm calling it "Explorer Style " It's a total mess right now because I'm in the throes of the creative process trying to figure out what goes where... on the walls that is.   I'm thinking butterfly and shell specimens around the window wall and lanterns. Ship paintings and antlers on the wall at the head of the bed,     and portraits on the wall adjacent to the closet. I think I'll let the map stand alone.     I've been thinking about the placement of these treasures for a while now and I think it's time to commit.   I've been collecting vintage cash boxes in homage to my son's career choice in finance. I love the global, traveled feel of the John Robshaw duvet and dhurrie rug.     I'm considering hanging the boat skeleton above the bed if it's not too much. I have to tell myself to edit, edit, ...
