LA DOLFINA

Without even trying!     Several months ago while shopping at The Alameda Point I spied this plaque in a booth and inquired as to the price. He told me it was $65.     I told him that she was my patron saint, St. Therese of Lisieux, The Little Flower, and that I was named after her.     He looked at me and said... OK,   $40 We all started laughing...   The truth is that it is important for treasures to find the right home!  He told me that he had been hassled by a woman in his shop to sell it to her for a low price and the more she tried, the more he dug his heels in.  When I came along, he knew that I was the person who was meant to be the caretaker of this beautiful treasure.  My Mom is always trying to buy me St. Therese religious collectibles but I believe that patience pays off and it certainly did that day at The Point!

Last week while out treasure hunting my Mom found this amazing treasure! She's always loved Christmas carolers & religious statues but I never expected her to find something as amazing as Italian Opera singers!  She looked up, way up, and sitting on a shelf high above her head there they were... even the young man working there that day confessed he hadn't noticed them before.     Excitedly she dragged me over to take a look. I gasped... "They are awesome" I pronounced.     "You scored a real treasure!" Thankfully the names were there for me to look up otherwise I would have never known they were characters from Italian plays and operas.  I don't know anything else about them yet... All I know is that they are very old and dusty and need a good cleaning.  We just had to share this special, one of a kind treasure with you!
