Killer Stuff and Tons of Money Giveaway
I was asked several months ago to be a part of something I had never heard of... a virtual book tour! The title of the book grabbed me immediately and I was thrilled to get an advance copy to read and review. Being a self-proclaimed treasure hunter and now treasure merchant, I figured this book would be right up my alley as it's pretty much about what I've been doing and blogging about here on La Dolfina. The author, Maureen Stanton, spends several years basically shadowing her friend, Curt Avery, who makes a living and supports his family by seeking treasure and selling it through his connections with other dealers, auctions houses, and at shows and markets like Brimfield. The book focuses on the east coast antique market and Curt Avery, a self-taught historian, spends an inordinate amount of time educating the author on the history of the American past and the odd, fascinating, and beautiful objects that have survived it.
