LA DOLFINA

I've had this arrangement in what I like to call,   "My Cabinet of Curiosities",  for several years now and felt like it was time for a change. "  Inspired   by this set of 20 vintage shell specimens I purchased from my friend Janet at French Blue , who found them on one of her trips to France, I set about changing it. The first thing I did was swap out the botanical prints for the collection of delicate boxed shell specimens identified in French. I must admit that it was hard to decide what to feature in my "new" cabinet as I've amassed quite a collection of God's treasures and wanted to showcase them all! But in the end I defaulted to sticking to the same configuration as my old "Cabinet of Curiosities", introducing similar but new treasures. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out! Some things just can't be improved upon... Believe me... I tried! I even went so far as to leaving just the boxed shell specimens ...

     I thought I'd share a few photos of our Master Bath. We did some improvements last year.  We didn't change our shower which is quite roomy with classic white tile but we did remove the door leading into our small bath which made the wall available to hang up our towels which we desperately needed!  We ripped out the white tile floor and added heated marble floors, which we almost didn't do but now highly recommend! We continued the marble as trim around the door opening.  We also added beadboard to the ceiling and 4 new recessed lights. I bought the vintage wire hanging basket at The Alameda Pointe Antiques and Collectibles Fair and filled it with sea sponges, loofahs, body brushes and bath mitts.  My friend Kathysue at Good Life of Design "sale alerted" me about the annual white sale last month at Neiman Marcus where I stocked up on fluffy white bath towels which included a beautiful complementary monogram!  I found the fabulous v...

I was so excited to see French Blue's post about her Dream Cabinet of Curiosities   that I just had to share mine.     I fill it with God's art.  

,   The best thing about a visit to LOOT is to take in the vignettes that are beautifully displayed throughout the shop.  Take your time and really study each photo... ...you will begin to see a theme emerge.  For Ron it's a gift...   ...he doesn't think about it.   He just does it. He simply throws things together. I've observed him. He is truly a genius when it comes to arrangement! It's the same when he arranges flowers...   ...he doesn't fuss, or force, it just flows. He creates one of a kind treasures... ...that show up in vignettes next to antiques and newer pieces. He's symmetrical   and asymmetrical. His displays are alive   and organic, whimsical and traditional. He's a master of textures, man made and natural. He's bold and colorful, monochromatic and subdued. And never lacking the patina of age!
