A Nativity Tradition
Cr è che Festival For one weekend in December , The Cathedral of Christ t he Light in Oakland Ca lifornia, holds an Annual Crèche Festival. It is a celebration not only for the Nativity of Christ, but for the unity of the diocese. By submitting cr èche sets from the d iocese, 84 Catholic parishes celebrate in unity, the myst ery of this season : that God would come, as a lowly child, to redeem and save us! This y ea r marked the 3rd year and had 48 out of 84 parishes participat ing . Many of the crèches were ma de by the children w ho attend the par ish schools. You can see how diverse the Oa kland Diocese is by the cr èches that are represented. It is a joy to see the creativity and wonder that went into c reating these one of a kind crèche sets.
