It was such a surprise and quite an honor to have my "chinoiserie fireplace" featured on the blog, Chinoiserie Chic. It's my favorite piece in our home and has a special story behind it... On Feb. 1, 1999, my beloved Grandmother, passed away at the age of 98. It felt to me as if someone had dimmed the lights in my world. I had never felt such sadness. It just lingered and lingered as each day I learned to live without her in my life. One day, my brother called to tell me he had found round trip tickets to Paris for $380!! I immediately called my husband and Mom to see if they wanted to go for Spring Break. The answer was a resounding YES, so along with our 8 year old son we boarded the flight to Charles de Galle. We had arranged to stay in 2 different Paris Apartments both located in the Latin Quarter. We spent our days sightseeing, eating, shopping and visiting almost every chuch and cathedral in the city. I alternate between being a parent and acting like a sibling to my son 3. I would never be caught dead in flats. Most people don't have a clue I'm 5'2" 4. I wear sunglasses in the gym 5. A friend of mine whose 3 children are all away at college decided it was time to update and make over their bedrooms. They will all be home for the Holidays so she thought it would be a nice and unexpected surprise for them to come home to. She asked if I could help get her creative juices flowing and of course I said YES. So, yesterday I stopped by to check things out... This is what I saw... Quel horreur! Mon dieu I asked her nicely if she could remove everything from the room except the bed, and that I would be back the next day..."Don't worry, I said, it will be great as long as you promise me...NO MORE GREEN" The large painting was on the opposite wall under 3 small windows We turned the existing nightstand around for a cleaner look and brought the mirror and ginger jar in from another room. While I may have a passion for treasure hunting, my wonderful husband has a passion for cooking. I know, I'm a lucky girl! I just had to share what I had for dinner last night...the most heavenly chicken pot pie! It all started with the cutest little pot pie dish... Into the oven it went... The chef is relaxed and pleased with his efforts They look and smell delicious! The blackbird just whistled...I think they're done Now, that's impressive! YUM, I'm starving! I'd like to tell you we all sat down together at a beautifully set table... But, the truth is, we sat around the TV, eating the most heavenly chicken pot pie, watching our favorite Sunday night shows.
