Christmas at Mom's House

I love my Mom! She is 74 and still goes all out for Christmas.
On the 25th of each month she reminds me that there are "only ___ months left till Christmas!"
She starts the process of decorating her home immediately after Thanksgiving. With the excitement of a child, she hauls her Christmas loot down a steep flight of stairs and joyfully begins the process of placing each and every treasured object in just the right spot. This usually takes her about 4 straight days...nonstop. When she's done...it's nothing short of spectacular! Christmas has arrived and is displayed in all it's glory and the woman who is my Mom is transformed into the little girl of Christmas past.









































Her passion for Christmas and the reason for the season, the birth of Christ, is a joy for all who share in her Christmas magic.

What a BEAUTIFUL Mom you have!!!! Gosh, she looks amazing! Her home is elegant, warm & whimsical just like a beautiful home that a mom would have. You are the lucky one and I know she is lucky and happy and blessed to have you too! Have the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!!

Wow...I am in awe. Your mom is fabulous & so beautiful. Her home is gorgeous, really gorgeous. I am delighted to read that she still gets excited about Christmas and goes to all that work. That is what keeps us young I believe. Hold on to her tight. My mom is in the process of dying from cancer & will likely not make it to the New Year. My parents both loved to decorate like that & this year dad did a great job all on his own while mom watched. My heart just isn't in it this year. Tell your dear mom that she is incredibly talented. All the best to you & your family during this holiday season. x

Your mom is the bomb! What a beautiful home - I especially liked her beaded (brooch?) trees. I'll bet your holidays are off the hook there! Toodles, kitty.

we love your mom and her home, so does Latte. seeing her home decorated makes me feel closer in the Christmas spirit...will have to take a private tour before she puts everything away, can Latte come too? i like her little catholic artifact collection!

Both my mom and my uncle's homes were part of the Holiday Home Tour this year benefiting The Alameda Family Services League. My uncle's home is a grand old Spanish Revival that wraps the corner of Northwood Dr. (the street I grew up on) and Yale Dr. where he and my mom grew up and where my mom now lives. His address is actually Gibbons Drive which is one of the most beautiful tree lined streets in Alameda. "Alameda" actually means, tree-lined avenue!  This fountain greets you at the entry to his home. Santa had the perfect spot for a long afternoon of greeting guests.  You may remember the greeting he gave my mom when he saw her!! A lovely vignette awaits you at the door. Summer Living

We haven't had a summer vacation yet but all it took for me to get inspired to do a little upgrade to our summer room or as my hubby calls it, his mancave, which is actually our garage, was this little number... It had been sitting for the longest time in my favorite thrift store and as hard as I tried to ignore it, it finally got my attention when one night as I was watching a movie with my hubby I imagined it across the room replacing an existing bench. Bright and early the following morning I high tailed it over there hoping it would still be there waiting for me! I sighed a breath of relief when I spied it over in the corner.  It was originally priced at $250 but had been lowered recently to $100. I asked politely if they might meet me at $75.   They promptly agreed as they were anxious to free up space. Once I got it home it became the catalyst for further upgrades in the space.
