I Want This So Bad!

-

I spied this amazing Asian style couch yesterday...

It made me giddy!

My wheels began spinning as I tried to figure out how to incorporate it into our home.

Usually my rationale goes something like this...

UPGRADE!

I can totally see it in our black & white toile room in front of the mirrored bookcase.

Problem is, what fabric to upholster it in and how much will that cost me?

My mom was not feeling me...

I'm asking you, am I crazy or is it as cool as I think it is?

You're crazy. That sofa is hideous. Nothing Asian about it.

I LOVE IT! Def has an ASIAN VIBE and if you can get it you SHOULD get it! You can find great fabric deals online...you may NEVER in your lifetime stumble upon a sofa like this again. "He who hesitates is lost"....

Dear Anon,
Check out the Asian wood frame/legs at the bottom. It looks Asian to me!
Thank you for your "hideous" opinion though...

Seeing as my house is named "Pagoda", I think it should live here!

I would classify this sofa as a c1970 Knole-type sofa with neo-baroque trim.

Nothing Asian about it.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, yes? Personally, I LOVE it and would drag that sucker all the way home, paint the woodwork soft white and reupholster it in hot pink or lime green in a blk/wh room. Oh the possibilities! Get. It.

The lines are very unique. You would have a sofa that would be special...but with fabric and reupholstery...how much was it?

Hi Terri, Asian or not who cares, I think it's great, even in this lovely Hermes orange.

Have you noticed how the people who want to say something negative always hide behind 'anon'?! This word of advice to Anonymous above - have the courage of your convictions and put a name to your comments, we'd all have a lot more time for you!!

wishing you a wonderful weekend Terri

I love the slim arms. Add new seat cushions with a nice down crown.. Probably 25 yards of fabric with no repeat.
I like it!

I think this sofa has enormous potential! It has great dimensions, long and not too deep, looks very comfortable for your mom. I will not buy a couch unless my feet touch the floor :-)

Totally! I can see it in your toile room! Perfect place for it. Love the wood trim on the bottom. Paint it black? Upholster it in black and white ticking to go with your black and white toile!? So did you buy it?
Oh, and I so agree with you Sharon. Nasty people always hide behind "anon" or a name without a profile.
Who cares if the sofa is asian or not? It's cool and that is the point!

I found my bicycle! (my new old bicycle) The funny part is where I found it. Yesterday after finishing my post, " I'm longing for a new bicycle ," I was lamenting to my husband about how badly I wanted a bicycle of my own.  He looked at me and said, " but you have a bicycle."  (our vintage Colombia tandem beach cruiser) I said, "I know, I love the tandem but I would like my own bicycle."  He said, "You do have your own bicycle... remember you bought one at a garage sale late last summer?" The light bulb went off and the memories came flooding back!  All of a sudden I remembered the day I scored my awesome vintage bicycle at a garage sale on Briggs Avenue for $20!  I ran to the backyard where it had been covered up with a large brown tarp for the winter.  I squealed with delight at the sight of it!  I remembered when I bought it it had several small American flags attached to the front basket from being ridden in the 4th of July...

There is something about single beds... (Image via domino) I would love to sleep in a bunk bed again... if just for one night. I can just imagine the conversations that would take place in these rooms!   Summer memories are made here and here and here. Celebrating 28 years

28 years ago today I found my greatest treasure. Legends say that hummingbirds float free of time, carrying our hopes for love,  joy and celebration.  Like a hummingbird, we aspire to hover and savor each moment as it passes, embrace all that life has to offer and to celebrate the joy of everyday.  The hummingbird's delicate grace reminds us that life is rich, beauty is everywhere, every personal connection has meaning and that laughter is life's sweetest creation. Happy Anniversary Chris I love you madly!
