A pennyweight for your thoughts...
Several people were curious about this set of antique brass weights that were part of the vignette displaying my growing collection of English paste pots & French mustard jars.
I found it several weeks ago and was immediately charmed by its presentation and patina.
After doing a search on ebay, I saw several sets housed in wooden boxes but nothing quite as unique as this one.
There seem to be several markings on the sides of the weights that look intriguing.
The mellow, dented patina is just wonderful but I need to take them out of their sleeves to fully appreciate it.
The footed base they sit on looks to be copper but I'm not sure.
What I find amazing is that all the weights are still present and accounted for.
Even the 3 tiny ones...
(The bottom of one of the weights)
It is probably British because of the way GRAMMES is spelled.
I'm thrilled to have found it and love having it as a part of my advertising Prattware & vintage mustard jar collection.
Who knows...
maybe a scale is in my future!
If so, I'll just wait and let it find me.
Do any of you collect scales or weight sets?
I never really gave them a thought until this unique set found it's way to my heart.

What an amazing find. All my years of treasure hunting and I've never seen a set like this one. If it's not at my house, I'm glad it's at yours :)
I have a weight just like that sitting here at my desk, not a set, not even two, just one :)
What a find!
