It's the most divine fried chicken and coleslaw sandwich! It compels hoards of foodies from around the Bay Area to stand in line for it day after day. The line moves quickly though and there is a pay off for the relatively short wait...free, freshly baked cookies are doled out while you wait!

Most days you will see Betty sporting her blue wig and mingling with her devoted customers while they sit at her vintage ironing boards digging into her amazing chicken sandwich!

A few doors down is Scout Home Hardware, an "everything but ordinary" emporium.
So...if you find yourself in Oakland's Temescal district, be sure and grab a chicken sandwich at Bakesale Betty and then head over to Scout to check out their vintage offerings.
And if you're there on a Sunday don't miss the Farmer's Market where you can get a cup of
Blue Bottle Coffee!!

I like your blog, there are so many pretty, inspirational blogs out there, but many are collections of pictures taken by somebody else. It is refreshing to find a an interesting blog where the blogger documents her own life and finds.
