Selling at The Alameda Pointe

Well,  I finally joined my "friends" at The Alameda Pointe Antiques & Collectibles Fair as a fellow dealer yesterday.  It took pretty much all of Saturday to prepare.  We arrived at 6AM.  Fortunately, we live in Alameda, so it's about a 15 minute drive from our home. Many dealers travel several hours and arrive at 4AM to "set up shop".   I felt a rush of excitement as we pulled into the huge lot and made our way to our designated space,  #T22. 

  

Even though it was still dark out,  I couldn't help but notice,  as we drove past all the dealers,  a table full of gigantic, colorful seashells.  Turned out they were old shop displays.  ( I'm sorry I didn't get a photo of all of them)   As soon as we met up with  our friends,  Catherine and Mark,  who were sharing the space with us,  I said I'd be right back and made a mad dash back to where I'd seen the shells!  They belonged to the same dealer, Pat, who I had scored the vintage Champagne and Tuaca bottles from last month.  I chose the one I wanted and she promised to hold it for me until I returned with the cash.

When I got back to our space, my husband was mad!  I promised I would not leave again and that I'd be good.  So I stayed there all afternoon and sold my little heart out.  After several hours I asked if I could go and retrieve my shell.  Guess who was there chatting with Pat about one of the shells?   Lynn, from Paris Boutique Hotel!  Turns out she was interested in one of them too!   It was so exciting to meet her in person!  I'd always hoped to run into her at The Point and it finally happened!   It's kind of surreal when your cyber friend is standing there, right in front of you...  anyway that was definitely one of the highlights of the day for me.

 

All in all it was a fun day and flew by quickly!  Mark and Catherine are a hip young couple who are passionate about Mid-Century Modern.  Their retro vibe really made our space a stand out!  We both sold a lot and declared our day at The Pointe, " a great success"!

 

I decided I needed something sugary before packing up our wares,  so my husband and I went searching for something sweet.  Just as we were about to give up, we ran into the Lovely Lisa Golightly who just happened to have some strawberry covered malt balls with my name on them!  Even though it was the end of the day, her space looked amazing and her handcrafted treasures were beyond beautiful!  Not only did I get to meet another fellow blogger that I admire but I got to meet her lovely daughter who was there for the first time helping out her Mom!

 

Pictured above are the strawberry covered malt balls.  As you can see, I have placed them next to the package that arrived on Friday from Sande of A Gift Wrapped Life.  I was one of 3 lucky ladies to have won her Charlotte Moss Giveaway!  Tell me,  could you open this exquisite package?  I have not been able to bring myself to open it just yet...  it may be awhile!

I think I'm actually going to use it outside in my tented pavillion as an art piece on my black lacquered chinese coffee table.  Time will tell!
