Alameda Pointe Antiques & Collectibles Fair

I really wasn't planning on going this month since I had scored some cool treasures while thrifting on vacation last week in Lake Tahoe.

  But then I realized I hadn't been in several months as the June show was on the day of our son's High School Graduation and then the following month it was on the 4th of July. 

  So, around 11:00 am when the phone rang and I heard my friend Debbie's voice asking if I was there yet, I told her I wasn't coming until it dawned on me that I hadn't done a post on The Point for several months.  I thought maybe some of you might be missing seeing all the fun and treasures to be had at the monthly show on our fair island.

My favs Tennis trophy it looks pretty tall, that white mirror with the bulb looks interesting, neat crusty white chandeliers neat for outside. Last but not least silver plate oh my goodness I would have been picking through that for hours!

Wow - this place looks amazing....I absolutely love the large glass container packed in the crate. That is awesome. I love all the vintage shells as well. I wished that I had something like this close to where I live - although I hear Mount Dora in Central Florida has some great vintage flea markets.

I'm in flea market heaven.. well envy really.. ours are just not this good and neither are our prices!!! I don't know where to begin... I might go a little nuts in a place like this.. the shabby frames.. all the silverware.. the glassware.. the ships in bottles, the religious artifacts ....clocks, glass floats.. even the foot powder tins!!! me oh my!!... you can keep the skull but other than that.. pass it over!!

I love your photos of the day. Addison and I were there looking at lots of the same goodies. I even picked up those really nice berry baskets thinking they would be great to gather the chickens eggs in. One day we will bump into each other, until than we love your blog!

I'm so jealous! I didn't go this time--we are up in Asti. Everything you featured, I love! I'm going to try to go to the new one at Candlestick though in a few weeks. Thanks for giving me a thrill--I feel like I was there almost, except I didn't spend any money!

Great shots! I'm surprised we didn't run into you...didn't leave there until around 1:00. What's amazing is that Claudia took some of the same shots...LOVED those little white chandeliers and the bowl of pipes and so much more!!!

Well, it was a wonderful Thanksgiving full of togetherness, great food & good times... and when it was all over I went to put a load of laundry on and accidentally ran my new iphone 4 through the wash!      In the meantime, while I wait for it to completely dry out, I thought I'd post some Christmas decorating ideas that I've saved over the years which have inspired me in decorating our home which I've been doing since Black Friday... and oh my, what a mess I'm in at the moment!! Holiday Home Tour - House #2

Both my mom and my uncle's homes were part of the Holiday Home Tour this year benefiting The Alameda Family Services League. My uncle's home is a grand old Spanish Revival that wraps the corner of Northwood Dr. (the street I grew up on) and Yale Dr. where he and my mom grew up and where my mom now lives. His address is actually Gibbons Drive which is one of the most beautiful tree lined streets in Alameda. "Alameda" actually means, tree-lined avenue!  This fountain greets you at the entry to his home. Santa had the perfect spot for a long afternoon of greeting guests.  You may remember the greeting he gave my mom when he saw her!! A lovely vignette awaits you at the door. My mom is no stranger to this house. They have lived in the same neighborhood, just a few houses apart, for over 40 years! Summer Living

We haven't had a summer vacation yet but all it took for me to get inspired to do a little upgrade to our summer room or as my hubby calls it, his mancave, which is actually our garage, was this little number... It had been sitting for the longest time in my favorite thrift store and as hard as I tried to ignore it, it finally got my attention when one night as I was watching a movie with my hubby I imagined it across the room replacing an existing bench. Bright and early the following morning I high tailed it over there hoping it would still be there waiting for me! I sighed a breath of relief when I spied it over in the corner.  It was originally priced at $250 but had been lowered recently to $100. I asked politely if they might meet me at $75.   They promptly agreed as they were anxious to free up space. Once I got it home it became the catalyst for further upgrades in the space.
