These wonderful antique doors at my favorite salvage yard today.


 Aren't they amazing?

 
How would you use them if you could incorporate them into your home?  I'm in awe of those creative types who find these rare and unusual pieces and then find a way to make them work in their spaces.

I'm not the type of person who has the foresight in how to use unusual pieces, other than to display. I wish I were! These are fabulous!

Oh my gosh I love the matador! The doors are also fabulous. They would be great so many ways, I mean even just resting on a shelf or the floor, hanging on the wall. I'm certain I'll think of lots of creative things later, will have to pop back over tomorrow and see what fun things some people come up with!

Oh Terri, I love, love these, I would hand one vertically, and the horizontal one below as a grouping on a wall. If I had the sources I would incorporate it in a door, I would have a entry door made to go around it, almost like an oversized peep hole.These are totally cool just as they are, actually ,how fun. Did you get them?

I'll take the fleur de lis door and top a metal bin with it to make an ice chest of cold drinks for summer cookouts. Meanwhile more snow due here... Oh and your mom can have the matador all to herself, I'd pass on that one. No offense mom! xo Cathy

Are they wood? Its hard to tell from the photo. I could consider hanging them on the wall about my bed. I love these doors. Or maybe a top to a coffee table. That would be awesome. LOVE them.

I love the doors,...and I like Cathy-"stitchfork" idea of adding them to a ice chest. I also thought if it was me..I would like to use them on our barbecue patio as doors to cabinets maybe under counter...for putting away some outside utensils... I am sure you will find the perfect spot and use for them.. even on your walls somehere?..... xo Colette ~Afrique du Sud

Great Find! They look like old kitchen wood fire / bread / oven doors......and I would replace / re-configure two of my kitchen cabinet doors or cubbies with them (randomly)...I'm weird like that.....That matador would go smack in the middle of my bar tray at parties...the dashing bar guard!....have a great week...k

Love both the doors AND the matador (although not quite sure where he would feel at home here). Those doors would be great in an outdoor space or in a "bridge" space like a garden room - lovely!

Urban Ore? They look heavy. They are beautiful. Love the color of them. I would probably find use for them in a garden if I wasn't going to paint them. Looks like they were oven doors or the doors that are adhered to brick fireplaces outside of a house. They would be great painted high-gloss black used for this purpose on a beautiful home.

If the hinges are good I would use it in a bathroom as the door to a 2nd medicine cabinet or a laundry chute. Obviously it couldn't take all the time use but something like that would be so fun. If this were a bathroom where money where no object. It would be placed by my tub and hide the tea kettle etc. built into the wall so I could have hot tea in the bathtub.

I have a mirror in one bathroom and the frame is an old fireplace surround from Ireland. It would look great in that bathroom.

Can I also say that it is so amazing that your son just posted a comment? It was a great idea on top of that.

I LOVE these doors! I hope you got them. I love Kathysue's ideas and adore Chris's idea. Both are unique and wonderful. I just hope you got the doors and didn't pass them up. I hope they are sitting at your house right now and I look forward to hearing what you do with them.

I found my bicycle! (my new old bicycle) The funny part is where I found it. Yesterday after finishing my post, " I'm longing for a new bicycle ," I was lamenting to my husband about how badly I wanted a bicycle of my own.  He looked at me and said, " but you have a bicycle."  (our vintage Colombia tandem beach cruiser) I said, "I know, I love the tandem but I would like my own bicycle."  He said, "You do have your own bicycle... remember you bought one at a garage sale late last summer?" 28 years ago today I found my greatest treasure.
