Did it have super-dooper provenance? That's the only thing I can imagine would justify the price (25 used and not-too-clean brushes at $8 each, plus stand). Well, maybe...
I happen to be an artist. They are beautiful :) You can almost hear them singing about creativity. I am sure you will put them to very good use, enjoy.
These brushes look well used and loved...maybe that's why they appeal to you so much. If they are really good brushes, the price could be justified...they last forever.
hee hee.. I know where those came from. I picture them against a white wall in some vintage-modern space, standing all by their lonesome with a ray of natural light shining on them.
LOVE this! I bought some paint brushes last summer and they are in a vase on my coffee table. Start hunting old brushes and make you own. Oh the discipline you had!
My secret...I too love old paint brushes. They absolutly speak love and beauty and creativity! However, that price is steep so I'm glad you kept control of yourself. Though it sure is tempting! You always amaze me with the treasures and beauty you find. Lots of love. XO
i inherited my aunts paintbrushes in 1979 and still love them. ps. i LOOOOOVED HEARING YOUR VOICE. you are a doll. we would get along infamously in person, must do it soon. xoxo K
You could say I have a wandering eye. It seeks out the rare and beautiful, weird and wonderful, unique and unusual... what I like to call, "Few of a Kind" treasures. I'm a Treasure Merchant. This blog is about my lifelong passion for treasure hunting. Il Tuo Tesoro, which means "Your Treasure" in Italian is my other blog where I sell the treasures I find and blog about here on La Dolfina. My treasures can also be found in my etsy shop further down on my sidebar.
"All of life is about energy. It's about the energy that you're putting out; energy that you're drawing to yourself, every day, based on the way you think about your life & the actions that you take. Everybody is an energy field. And because of your attitude, your thinking, your actions; who you choose to be in the world, forms your own field. You are drawing into your field people who are like you... to remind you, to show you, to reflect back to you- who you are. Believe that or not, that is what is happening all the time... and it does not require your belief. It just is. It. Just. Is." -Oprah

Well, you got my attention with this photo! i like the stand for the brushes.
Love the look too - but yeah - too pricey. Why not try to make something similar of your own?
