Something to Sell About
My partner in crime (my Mom) and I hit up an estate sale in her neighborhood this weekend.
It was a doozy!
Apparently the story goes like this...
The owner was a huge collector for many years with the intention of one day having a shop.
Well, as you can see, that never happened and she ended up with a whole lot of stuff!
(This is hitting close to home)
Anyway, she's a fairly young woman who has decided to go in a completely different direction with her life and is "selling the farm" so to speak.
I wish I knew more details but I was intrigued by her ability to completely change the direction of her life and let go of years of accumulation, just like that!
The home was adorable and in great shape. I think she was a decorator because everything was so "put together" and move in ready.
I also heard the house had already been sold. I don't even recall seeing a For Sale Sign go up.
I don't know about you but I'm always curious about the people whose estate sales I attend.
This one was inspiring...
I felt a sense of excitement for this woman!
Life is short...
and it's never too late to change your path.
Here is my Mom sitting down for a spell with Richelle who together with her partner, Noah, have been running "Something to Sell About" for as long as I can remember. In fact, I believe the first estate sale I ever attended was one of theirs.
As you can see, the home is truly lovely.
She had many amazing treasures...
but not a lot of bargains.
I actually got out of there with several rolls of leftover wallpaper for a total of $2.
Did you go to any interesting estate or garage sales over the weekend?

i LOVE that bar cart, and those panels...so much to see there, must have been a great day.
How adorable is your mom????
xoxo
When they opened the containers, they were full of carpets, clothes, home wares, art etc.
My friend bought a hand knotted oriental carpet for 50 EUR, sold it at an auction for 1000 EUR one month later, an atelier made never used fur coat for 20 EUR and resold it for 700 EUR etc, unused hand made clothes an dinteresting home wares etc.
I am still a bit furious that she didn't think of taking me with her to shop there...
Your Mom is so young looking.
You have me thinking, maybe it is time for me to let go and get rid of many an estate sale - accumulated life style for a more sense of freedom - change and new beginnings..
Oh how your post has set me thinking...
It was a lovely looking home some one who knew her was waiting to snatch it up no doubt.

I bought a tea cup a few weeks ago at a garage sale and I was getting ready to send it as a gift to a friend.
I decided to check the markings out on it.
It's worth over $100!
I paid $1.00.
I think I'm going to keep it...I really liked it, was just too lazy to go to the antique mall to find her teacup!
