Okay, it's true, I didn't exactly leave The Pointe empty-handed on Sunday.
I almost made it, but a recent obsession of mine... oversized bottles,  foiled my attempt to keep my cash in my pocket and my eye on the lens!  Now that I've confessed,  I know that most of you didn't believe I could get out of there without sneaking out a treasure or two,  so...

Here's what tripped me up!


I don't know why but I'm crazy about these fabulous vintage champagne bottles.  This one in particular is truly amazing with it's large size, thick heavy gorgeous green glass,  wonderfully aged and distressed labels and salvaged cork.  I'm so grateful to the person who loved it enough to keep it all these years...  it must have been some celebration!!

 
 






  
I had never even heard of Tuaca before I found this beauty!
How could I possibly resist such a find, especially when it rests upon a trio of silver-plated "dolfina's" ?
  

  

For those of you like myself who have never heard of Tuaca, allow me to introduce you to...

"The romantic renaissance drink made from a formula discovered in Italy over 500 years ago.  You'll find the flavor of Tuaca to be extremely pleasing... not too sweet,  not too pungent...  and very versatile.  Many people enjoy Tuaca straight or over ice with a twist of lemon or squeeze of lime.  But it will add a subtle touch of the unusual to your favorite rum, vodka, or tequila drinks, and is great in cocktails such as the stinger, the sour, or the white tiger".

I have heard of Tuaca, but don't think I have ever tried it. Absinthe I haven't tried either. But another flavor that the Italians like with a twist of lemon is Campari. I drink the non-alcoholic sans-bitter that is similar in taste- very bitter. You love it or hate it. Know what looks pretty imo, is the aged remnants of whatever graced someones palette from this bottle from years ago. That is the best part of these old bottles. I vote keep it just like that!

OMG OMG OMG ... I went to go buy that very same Tuaca bottle and it was gone ! YOU were the one !!! Laughing like crazy ... glad it went to a good person ! I literally walked away for like 5 min to get my money and poof it was gone. We need to meet girl !

Holiday Home Tour - House #2

Both my mom and my uncle's homes were part of the Holiday Home Tour this year benefiting The Alameda Family Services League. My uncle's home is a grand old Spanish Revival that wraps the corner of Northwood Dr. (the street I grew up on) and Yale Dr. where he and my mom grew up and where my mom now lives. His address is actually Gibbons Drive which is one of the most beautiful tree lined streets in Alameda. "Alameda" actually means, tree-lined avenue!  This fountain greets you at the entry to his home. Santa had the perfect spot for a long afternoon of greeting guests.  You may remember the greeting he gave my mom when he saw her!! A lovely vignette awaits you at the door. My mom is no stranger to this house. They have lived in the same neighborhood, just a few houses apart, for over 40 years! We haven't had a summer vacation yet but all it took for me to get inspired to do a little upgrade to our summer room or as my hubby calls it, his mancave, which is actually our garage, was this little number... It had been sitting for the longest time in my favorite thrift store and as hard as I tried to ignore it, it finally got my attention when one night as I was watching a movie with my hubby I imagined it across the room replacing an existing bench. Bright and early the following morning I high tailed it over there hoping it would still be there waiting for me! I sighed a breath of relief when I spied it over in the corner.  It was originally priced at $250 but had been lowered recently to $100.
